The World Bank – Austria Urban Partnership Program (UPP) organized a workshop on Municipal finance in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from September 24 to 26.

The workshop gathered over 50 representatives, mainly from finance departments of cities and municipalities, Ministry representatives and local government associations from BiH, Montenegro and Serbia. The workshop informed about the improved on-line Municipal Finance Self-Assessment (MFSA) platform and facilitated peer to peer exchange on topics of common interest (including participatory decision making, capital budget financing sources, debt management, legalization, expenditure review, etc.). The PEFA Secretariat, along with Prof. Anto Bajo, introduced the PEFA Framework and its application at the subnational level, with regional examples. The presentation also highlighted the complementarities between PEFA and MFSA.
