The PEFA Secretariat delivered a training on the PEFA 2016 Framework to government officials, the World Bank staff and development partners of six South Asian countries in Paro, Bhutan from June 10—11, 2016. The training event was sponsored and organized by the Governance Global Practice/South Asia Region PRMM of the World Bank with support from the WB Bhutan Country Office.

The training provided participants detailed information and guidance on the content and application of the updated PEFA framework that was released on February 1, 2016. It focused on the practical aspects of designing, managing, and implementing a PEFA assessment using the PEFA 2016 Framework.

Through the combination of presentations and case studies, training participants were introduced to the specifics of PEFA 2016 to guide their future assessments and help feed public financial management reform processes.

Since it was launched in 2005, the PEFA framework has been used more than 500 times in 150 countries, including in all countries of South Asia.
